Each month CMMH wires $10,000 to St. Vincent’s Centre for Handicapped Children with a year-end bonus of $10,000 for a total of $130,000. This regular cash flow constitutes about 60% of the school’s annual budget. And that total is far short of what is needed for a school of this size and nature. Teacher’s salaries, which have not been raised in years, were recently increased moving the average salary (about $150 per month) closer to the minimum wage required.
The money helps to pay for food, salaries, maintenance and supplies, medical care, fuel for the generator, transportation, electricity, water, telephone, internet, and much more.
CMMH also sends money to the Hopital Ste. Croix, the Children’s Nutrition Program, and the Maison de Naissance as designated by donors.
